Happy New Year

Hello!

I am beyond thrilled to be ushering in a new year today. If you follow along on Facebook, you may have caught a video I posted back in the fall touching on some of the personal struggles I faced in 2017. It was an absolute nightmare of a year. I lost my dad after a two year battle with cancer and I lost a cousin in a freak accident all within one month. In the midst of the cancer, things at the studio were moving full force. We were rounding out year four in business and we worked with almost 80 couples creating dream wedding days of all shapes and sizes. We had some new additions to the Hoot & Holler team and watched some lovely ladies from our staff move on to new and exciting endeavors. To make a long story short, last year was a year of growth - for better and for worse.

So, here we are. This year is a clean slate and we have already have a slew of incredible weddings and events on the calendar. We're so excited to continue refining our style (something that I don't think will ever stop) and to create new and gorgeous floral designs for our clients.

If you know me personally, then you probably know that I LOVE a goal. Every milestone in my life comes along with a list of goals (birthdays, anniversaries, the new year, etc.) so I wouldn't dream of letting 2018 get started without busting out a pen and paper to dream a little.

Something I let fall to the wayside last year was my presence on this blog and on our social media platforms. We haven't shared some of our favorite projects (or really any projects!) so this year it's my resolution to pop in here once a week to talk about some of our badass couples and how they celebrated their wedding days. I want to get to know you all a bit better and to give you a peek behind the curtain of how our events come together. So, buckle up.

To kick things off, I wanted to introduce myself.

My name is Malori Maeva. I started a company called Hoot & Holler a little over four years ago in my second floor walk-up apartment with very little floral experience and even less business experience. I come from an entrepreneurial family so I took the risky leap into this life knowing that a 9-5 simply wasn't for me. In the past four years, we've worked with hundreds of couples on their wedding days, created arrangements for countless photoshoots, and worked with some really cool companies on various creative projects. I've got a foul mouth (cursing is my favorite), a small albino poodle named June (she spends a lot of time at the studio with the team), and a huge love for a night spent at home cooking a delicious dinner and binge-watching something on Netflix. I love to travel, have had just about every creative hobby in the book, and I loveeeeee to read. I'm not a big believer in tradition so I love to work with clients that want to write their own stories. I truly cannot wait to share more about what we do around here and I'm thrilled to have you along for the ride.
