Brock & Megan's Intimate Superstition Mountain Wedding

Last year I took on a project that was a bit outside of our usual scope of work. My older brother popped the question last fall and we planned his intimate desert wedding. The best part of it all? He and his fiance opted for our trust package so their wedding day was full of gorgeous surprises. There are so many special details from their day that I’ve been dying to share and it’s finally time!!

Brock has always dreamed of having a giant, very traditional wedding with dancing and a lengthy guest list. Megan wanted to run away to a courthouse for a private wedding ceremony. So, how did we meet in the middle? The couple chose to keep their guest list tight, only 30 attendees, and held their celebration at Lost Dutchman State Park. The views are breathtaking and the compromise between traditional and non-traditional was such a fun challenge to tackle throughout their planning.

Minted Wedding Invitations

Brock and Megan decided early on that they wanted to forgo most of the traditional elements of their wedding day. If you and your fiance are having a hard time deciding where to start planning or how to allocate your budget, we can help you out. We recommend that each of you sit alone and list your top 5 priorities for your wedding celebration. Then, compare notes. The categories where you overlap will take priority and the rest you don’t need to worry about… really.

The priorities in our planning here were to have great photos, a beautiful film, and incredible food.

For photos, the amazing Lauren with Lunabear Studios was on site with us. Brock is a total ham and we knew he’d need a photographer that could capture his goofy side but reign him in for some serious photos too. I absolutely love Lauren’s use of light and color but my favorite part of her work is the way she captures joy in her clients.

For ceremony, I knew we wanted to create something gorgeous without taking anything away from the stunning view. So, we built a little wall of flowers to anchor the space and add some beauty while keeping the mountain as the main focal point. We played off of the colors in the desert with touches of pale yellow and blush alongside a mainly red and magenta color palette. Those red roses have me all in my feelings. They were perfection.

We were lucky enough to work with Moonrise Standard for catering and to say they knocked it out of the park would be an understatement. Derek sat down with Brock and Megan to learn about what they love to eat, then he created a custom menu for a three course meal that featured elevated versions of food they loved to eat. My personal favorite was the smoked chili and pumpkin bisque but every part of the meal was absolutely drool-worthy.

And finally, the reception space!! Our friends at Tremaine Ranch provided the furniture and tabletop accents here. We ordered linen from Linen Lark in an array of colors that faded from light to dark as the table progressed. The flatware and goblets from Tremaine Ranch brought in some much needed moodiness.

And that, folks, is how ya do it. This was such a special project and I loved the trust Brock and Megan gave us for their design and planning. If you are interested in letting us work our magic for your wedding, ask us about the Trust package!

Melissa & Jeremy's L'Auberge de Sedona Wedding

In 2017 we were the busiest we’ve ever been. We were so busy, in fact, that I didn’t make any time to share the work we were creating. So, I’m excited to throw it back this week to a summer wedding from 2017 that was an absolute joy to create.

Burgundy and Blush Wedding at L'Auberge de Sedona

Melissa and Jeremy tied the knot in the red rocks of Sedona at the gorgeous L’auberge resort. Melissa wasn’t afraid of a bit of color so we leaned into a color palette of reds and pinks nestled into containers that leaned a bit more classic. Paired with all white details at their reception, the blooms popped beautifully while tying in the colors from the mountains in the background.

Cara & Kynan's Modern Boho Wedding

Whoever told you modern and boho can't mix was lying to you. One of our favorite things to do here is blend two disparate styles into a seamless design for our couples' wedding days. Cara loved the boho look but chose a very modern venue and at the end of the day, the two styles meshed perfectly.

We know you're here for the pictures (they're our favorite part too), so we'll jump right in and share our favorite parts along the way!

This ceremony set-up is one of our all time favorites. Our rustic wooden arch was created just for us from found Arizonan wood. For Cara and Kynan, we adorned the arch with dozens of white roses, hydrangea, larkspur, and ranunculus and added the boho element with gorgeous, seasonal green vines. Each guest seat featured a small yellow boutonniere in memory of Cara's father. It honestly took our breath away to see every guest at the wedding wearing a happy little reminder of him throughout the night. And if we're being totally honest, every time we look at her pictures we tear up a little bit.

We love Clayton on the Park because their reception space is full of beautiful light and lends itself to many different layouts. Cara and Kynan mixed rounds and rectangular tables to fit all of their guests and sat at a grand head table in the front of the room. Centerpieces alternated between oversize arrangements in our brass vases and garland to create a mix of textures and height. Blooms were added to the gorgeous cake from Ruze and touches of gold throughout the space helped add some elegance to the design.

One of our favorite elements from the day was the lush head table garland. We layered our favorite seasonal foliages down the length of the table and dotted in tons of white blooms for a full, garden-style look that really anchored the room. If you're looking for help styling your wedding day, we would love to work with you! Bringing your vision to life is our FAVORITE thing to do.
